Pope Paul V determined to build St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican in Rome. How did the Pope propose to fund this project? Did anyone have a problem with the Pope's fund raising methods? If so, who?

The Pope welcomed the Japanese Samurai Hasekura Tsunenaga then the Pope financed the completion St. Peter's Basilica and improved the Vatican Library.
